News and Do's

Who are they, really? That is a question that my wife and I wondered as we prayed about accepting the position of pastor of the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene. Were the people really as warm and friendly as they led us to believe? The answer came back a resounding YES!

I remember that cold, rainy, ice filled, winter day January 15, 2007 when I pulled the U-Haul truck I was driving onto Hill Street anxious to arrive at our new home. As I passed the sign that sits near the road there was a message that said; “Welcome Home Pastor Kelly and Sharon Green.” In the driveway awaited members from the church ready to unload our truck. As I climbed down out of the cab, I was greeted with; “we know you have driven a long way, just tell us where to put things and we will unload the truck for you.” What a great display of love that was poured out on us that day.

But that day and that experience is not limited to the pastor and his wife. We have discovered in the time that we have been at the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene that all people are treated in a similar fashion. Warmth, love, acceptance, and a genuine feeling of concern or a desire to help is what has attracted and continues to attract new faces to our church.

The worship services are designed to bring people to Christ and Christ to people. Together, we help one another grow and mature in our relationship with God. The music is upbeat and it gives you a feeling of joyful celebration. The Pastor’s messages are brought in a fashion that are easy to understand but reaches people at every area of their Christian life, including their pre-Christian life.
